You’ve been counting down the days and it’s finally here, time for vacation! Bags packed, passport in hand, flight confirmed, you're all ready to go! But what about the flight ahead of you? We all know one of the worst parts of travel is flying...

Hours upon hours crammed in a small seat flying high above the every day life you’re retreating from. Let's be honest, by the time you get off that plane, you’re probably not feeling your best....

So here are my go to hacks for a redeye flight! (or just a really long one)

Face mask • Ok, I know, I know, self care goes further than just throwing a face mask on....but hey, it’s a really good start! Airplanes always make my already dry skin feel like the Sahara Desert. A mask only takes 10 minutes and (especially on a long overnight flight) it can be your skin's saving grace. This way you can get off the plane with your skin glowing a bit more than usual, primed and ready to take all those drool worthy wanderlust photos.

ENTERTAINMENT • Are you a reader? Netflix fiend? Podcast aficionado? Regardless of your preferred pass time, make sure you prep before you get to the airport! (because spoiler alert: airport WiFi sucks...and you’re gonna need longer than 20 minutes at your gate to download every episode of Dead to Me!)

Pro tip • make sure your iPad/kindle is charged & bring your own earphones!

Stress relievers • My Saje essential oil blend is my go to for stress relief. It helps eradicate headaches and gives a happy dose of aromatherapy. It’s the perfect way to get yourself into vacation mode.

Snacks....I mean do I really need to say more?

Pro tip • Bring your fav treat along with some healthy snacks! Something easy like nuts that you can take a handful of on the go can provide much needed sustenance if you’re starving.

Journal • For me this is a non-negotiable. I’m a writer (I know, shocking!) so my journal is never far behind. You don’t have to be a writer to enjoy this one though. Maybe sketching is a great stress relief for you? Or you might want to organize all your plans for the trip in a notebook that you can refer back to and write memories in. Whatever it is for you, I will never stop loving the simple beauty of a pen and paper...a notebook just waiting to be filled with adventures.

Sleeping essentials • If you like pitch black for sleeping, don’t forget to grab your eye mask. Bad back? A neck pillow is a must! Whatever your nighttime essentials are, don’t forget to bring them in your carry on.

Oh and of course...make sure you remember cozy clothes!!

It’s easy to get so wrapped up in planning the perfect trip, that you neglect your own self care needs on the flight. If you just take a few minutes to plan ahead of time, you can walk off the plane energized and ready for the amazing time that awaits.
